2020 sees the 10th Anniversary of Only Boys Aloud and to mark the occasion the group have announced Two Gala Concerts to celebrate – one here at the Hall and another in Llandudno. In March 2010, Only Boys Aloud was launched as a new initiative to get boys singing in Wales, breathing new life into the Welsh Male Choir tradition and inspiring teenage boys to find confidence, community, joy, friendship through song. No audition, no fee and inclusivity is central to the scheme. With 13 choirs working in some of the most deprived areas in Wales, word of this phenomenon has spread throughout the globe. The boys’ Britain’s Got Talent audition clip has had well over 28 million views on YouTube and they have messages posted almost daily on their website from around the world. Created for a one-off concert in 2010, OBA has gone from strength to strength, gaining a momentous 3rd place in  ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent in 2012, performing at Buckingham Palace in 2013 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the coronation, launching a brand-new Royal Caribbean Cruise Liner, signing an album deal with Sony and much, much more. Following the huge success of The Empire Strikes Back tour throughout the UK earlier this year, the iconic climactic sixth episode of the Star Wars saga, Return Of The Jedi, will be presented live in concert across the UK for the first time with a live symphony orchestra performing the iconic score of Oscar winner, John Williams along with the film shown in HD on a huge screen. Return of the Jedi (1983) sees Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia and co. joined by Yoda and the Ewoks in an adventure across the galaxy as Darth Vader prepares to unleash the final blow to the Rebel Alliance. Since the release of the first movie nearly 40 years ago, the Star Wars saga has had a seismic impact on both cinema and culture, inspiring audiences around the world with its mythic storytelling, captivating characters, ground-breaking special effects and iconic music scores.

2020 is a big one for Deacon Blue. They have announced a new album CITY OF LOVE which sees the multi-million selling band deliver eleven brilliant new tracks tethered by a singular belief – that even in the corners of a town or a life where no light falls, hope can prevail. Supported by a huge tour, the band will be coming to our city of love on 15 November.

With Thunder marking three incredible decades as one of Britain’s finest rock acts the band will undertake a 5 date Arena tour in November 2020. Just announced! Those Damn Crows will be supporting Thunder at the Arena along with Ugly Kid Joe.

Manic Street Preachers will perform two shows at Motorpoint Arena Cardiff on 04 and 05 December 2020, their only dates in Wales this year. The first night will be a free show for NHS staff, the second is ticketed, with all profits going to NHS Wales charities. The band who have championed the incredible NHS for many years explained: “We wanted to do something to show our appreciation, love and respect for the NHS and its amazing brave workers.
